Our remote management platform GRIP already ran on servers located in Europe for the past several years. We specifically did so because at Sustainder we value security and accountability. Now we’re taking the next step by moving to Scaleway, a European provider with data centers including Paris, Amsterdam and Warsaw. Scaleway is a fully European hosting provider with a clear focus on privacy and transparency and with this step we are migrating to a full European infrastructure. ????????
What this means for you (our customer)
- More clarity about “who is responsible for what.” When the provider is European, the legal and operational lines are easier to understand and explain during audits, procurement reviews, or privacy assessments.
- Lower exposure to cross-border legal uncertainty. The Netherlands’ NCSC explains that the US CLOUD Act can—under certain conditions—be used to request data from US providers, even when data is stored in Europe; the same note also stresses that you can’t fully eliminate every extraterritorial influence, but supplier choice and risk-reduction measures do matter.
- Security you can track. Scaleway publicly lists recognized security frameworks, including ISO/IEC 27001:2022, and states it has been HDS certified since July 2024 and entered the SecNumCloud qualification process in January 2025.
- Sustainability with transparency. Scaleway states its data centers run on renewable energy and publishes operational indicators like PUE/WUE and electricity sourcing details (“Guarantee of origin”).

Why this matters
This move is not “cloud for cloud’s sake”—it’s about being able to make stronger, clearer promises about privacy and governance, and then backing those promises with a provider whose public commitments match our direction (European accountability, published security posture, and transparent sustainability reporting).
It also helps keep GRIP future-proof: choosing a provider that is explicit about certifications, resilience and security practices reduces friction when clients (rightfully) ask detailed questions about risk, compliance, and supplier chains.
What changes for you in day-to-day use?
Whether you are using our mobile application or our website, nothing changes in how you use GRIP: same product, same support, same mission. The difference is the infrastructure, which is better aligned with the kind of privacy-minded, responsible digital infrastructure Sustainder requires.
